Here's another recipe I've made a few times before! There used to be a bar downtown that had really delicious margaritas. They were a bit overpriced, and kind of gimmicky (picture "sea foam" on the top of the glasses) but delicious. There was one that was spicy, and I searched the internets for a similar recipe. I found one using a serrano pepper infused simple syrup, and have been making them ever since. It's the delicious combination of sweet and spicy, and works perfectly.
Recipe: Serrano Pepper Margaritas
From: Somewhere on the internets, inspired by the late restaurant Ventana
Ingredients:
3 cups water
2.25 cups sugar
8 serrano peppers, stems removed and sliced in half
Silver tequila
Triple sec
Lime juice
Directions:
In a medium pot, bring water, sugar and peppers to a boil. Let simmer for 30 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Refrigerate until ready to be used. Make sure to strain before using!
To make margarita, mix together 2 parts simple syrup, 2 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1.5 parts lime juice. Put in a shaker with ice, shake well and then serve.
